Notes

This delightful Messe Brève in C by Charles Gounod is the first of this series.  A highly spirited piece with great exuberance, it should be relatively easy to perform by church choirs that can manage four part harmony.

As far as we know, Gounod did not write a setting of the Benedictus for this Mass, so the editor has selected music from within the Mass to produce a suitable setting of these words.

We have deliberately kept dynamic and tempo markings to a minimum and these should be used as a guideline only.
